well here i am. back on the coast. it's been lovely so far. the boy had his birthday on thursday and we've been eating chinese food and cake since.
we walked down to the beach yesterday. the tide was out so we had perfect timing. we walked to the edge of the water, careful not to crush any of the thousands of sand dollars that had washed up and dehydrated. (before last summer I thought that sand dollars were always white, so it was curious to find that they are in fact quite nearly black while they are alive. Only after travelling though a few shades of purple and orange do they end up white.) anyway we walked to the edge of the water and broke up a seagull party.
i love the feeling of sand between my toes.
the water was a little cold, but it is the ocean after all.. i forgot to bring my bubbles with me again, so i think i might have to pick up some, because i can't think of any better relaxation technique than blowing bubbles on the drying sand with the sound of waves crashing.
on a less serene note, patrick and i went and saw identity yesterday. it wasn't horrible, but it's a good thing we went to see the matinee because i can't imagine paying full price to see it.
i think we're going to get goldfish today for the tank. it's been sitting empty since september. so sad to see.
to everyone who sent me an "i'm moving" email i hope your transition went smoothly and that the new places are starting to feel like home.
