I've been neglectful, but with good reason. Work has been consuming a decent amount of my time and sleep the other. Add in cooking and cleaning and winding down and there is little time for the internet. seeing as i spend a large part of my day at work sitting in front of a computer, it's not the first place i look to for entertainment when i get home. That said I think I should probably take the time to write every couple of days for personal reasons. I like to have a record of when I'm thinking at any given time. So there's the goal, how lofty it is remains to be seen.
So what has been going on... Well Patrick and I drove across Canada. It was quiet enjoyable and the weather cooperated nicely. There was only one real weather phenomenon and that was in Moose Jaw. We arrived in the city around 5 one night, found a nice place to stay and decided to go for a swim at the pool. Getting to the pool required walking outside, which was fine since it was beautiful out. So we did that and then after walked back to the little pond thing that was behind the place, still in our wet clothing.. Night comes and we sleep. and sleep.. (we didn't think to open the blinds and as a result the room was pitch black..) We finally wake up and open the blinds and the place is covered in snow. Hail is coming down, and eventually changes to big wet flakes, but snow! It was quite bizarre.
The rest of the drive was fine, (although after getting to Hamilton seeing reports of snow all across the prairies made us glad we hadn't waited another week.)
We saw a bunch of animals, a black bear, some mountain goats, caribou, some live and dead deer, hawks and vultures and eagles and lots of ducks and a moose! After kilometers and kilometers of road with moose warning signs we finally saw one in northern Ontario. Was it ever big!
Since then I've been working and sleeping as I mentioned before. We played some poker, rules have been revised as to make for a shorter game in the future. I travelled to my mother's house to help in the destruction of our back porch and ended up cutting a bunch of little Manitoba maples down and pushing over a big dead tree with two of my aunts. We also watched the entire first season of Firefly and China Town, with my man Jack Nicolson during his 'young-enough-to-be-cute' stage.
And I went to see the special specialist in Toronto. On Thursday morning (the day before my birthday) I get the pleasure of having a giant cyst removed from my jaw along with my remaining 3 wisdom teeth, which should be a barrel of fun, not to mention the fact that I have to miss a bunch of work.. blah.
Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Cuff the Duke at the Horseshoe and tonight I get to see redshift for the first time in a long time and I hear they have new material. woo! I figure I might as well make this weekend good because not much fun will be had after Wednesday night.
I will talk more about the new job and such some other time. I think I'm going to watch some of the Queer as Folk that I've downloaded.
